5 Healthy Breakfast Smoothies!

5 Healthy Breakfast Smoothies!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

so get started on the right food with these five incredible smoothie recipes.

So, to get started I'm going to share just a couple tips to make your smoothie making
run smoothly, right?

First up, you want to use frozen fruit.

Now, the reason is you don't want to be watering down your smoothie with a whole bunch of ice.

So, freeze your fruit yourself.

I like to freeze my fruit in a single layer on a baking sheet.

This prevents it from all clumping and sticking together.

Next, when it comes to using your blender

be sure to add your liquid first near the blades.

That's gonna help your blender run a little more smoothly.

Finally, don't be afraid to prepackage your smoothies and leave them in the freezer.

These are great 'cause all you need to do in the morning is roll out of bed, pour these into your blender with a little bit of yogurt and some juice and you're off to the races.

Breakfast is served.

1- Monday Yellow Smoothie  :

I love this sunny tropical yellow smoothie to start off my week.

It's perfect for a gloomy Monday to get you going.

So, we're gonna start with a half a cup of pineapple juice.

Now, if you don't have pineapple juice,

it's fine, you could also use orange juice or even almond milk in this recipe would work just as well.

To that, we're going to add a half a cup of Greek yogurt.

This is going to add a little bit of much needed protein into our smoothie then we're gonna top it with some tasty fruits like some frozen pineapple, some mango, and some tasty banana.

Finally, we're gonna hit it with a little bit of grated ginger just to liven it all up and press blend.

Monday morning breakfast, taken care of.

2- Tuesday Orange Smoothie :

I call this my Orange your glad . it's not Monday anymore Tuesday smoothie.

We're starting with some orange juice, about half a cup.

To that we're gonna add about a half a cup

of Greek yogurt for protein, one peeled orange frozen, half a peach, also peeled and frozen,
and finally, one shredded carrot.

I love sneaking vegetables into these smoothies

when nobody's looking.

They'll never even taste it.

3- Wednesday Red Smoothie  :

Come hump day, I'm ready for something
bright and beautiful like this ruby red smoothie
that features watermelon and strawberries
and fresh raspberries.

It's absolutely delicious.

We're going to mix is up with a little bit of almond milk and some Greek yogurt.

I'm using vanilla flavored Greek yogurt for this recipe and boom, there's breakfast baby.

4- Thursday Purple Smoothie :

By the time Thursday rolls around you're stressed out to the max  or at least I know I am.

What better way to start your day than with a whole lot of antioxidant goodness?

This purple smoothie is so delicious and features some of these most antioxidant rich foods.

Into our blender we are adding a half a cup of pomegranate juice.

If you don't have pomegranate juice, cranberry juice will also work.

Then we are going to add some vanilla flavored Greek yogurt.

We've got some frozen blueberries  and frozen blackberries and even some beautiful freshly pitted cherries.

When they're in season, buy a whole ton,
pit them and then freeze them so you can use them all year long.

5- Friday Green Smoothie :

Ladies and gentleman, congratulations.

You made it to Friday.

Now, in order to prepare for the epic night you have ahead of you, probably best to get some
greens into us early.

So, I'm gonna show you my tasty Friday green goodness smoothie.

All right, so it starts with about a half a cup of OJ, half a cup of vanilla flavored Greek yogurt,
to that we are going to add two peeled and frozen kiwis, and then a whole avocado.

Trust me on this one, it's gonna add some creaminess and some texture.

You're going to absolutely love it.

Now, believe it or not you can freeze avocados.

You'll never be able to eat it on its own again
but it is great in smoothies.

And then we're gonna add a handful of greens
and you won't even taste them because of this beautiful kiwi.

Also, keep in mind that smoothies are an excellent place to improvise.

So, once you've got these basic recipes down
you can add all sorts of things to them like protein powder or hemp seeds or chia seeds.

Any kind of greens, you can sneak those in.

You won't even know they're there.

These are incredibly delicious and packed full of nutrients.

I hope you'll give them a try and let me know how it goes.

Be sure to comment  a photo
of what you come up with in your own kitchen.

I love hearing from you.

Happy Monday, Happy Tuesday, Happy Wednesday, Happy Thursday, Happy Friday.

And come Saturday it's time for eggs benedict.

Thanks a lot

10 Foods You Should Never Eat

10 Foods You Should Never Eat

TEN FOODS YOU SHOULD NEVER EAT.

There are all kinds of stereotypes about food that exists in any society .

People wholeheartedly believe in some products health benefits, although there's often zero evidence to back them up.

What's worse some of the most promoted foods can in fact harm you.

In this article, you'll get acquainted with 10 foods. You'd better avoid by all means.
==============================================
Number 10 - Fruit Juices

Unless you've pressed your juice yourself or seen it made in front of your very eyes. Don't drink fruit juices!

Despite what you've heard about them, the abundance of vitamins health benefits and so on. The truth is a bit different.

Store bought juices may contain some real fruit.

But, most of their content is water, sugar, and, artificial flavoring. Even if you see the labels not from concentrate or 100% pure

Don't let this fool you!

Juice after being squeezed from different fruits is kept in huge vacuum sealed tanks where it can sit for up to a year,

before being packaged. and by that time the juice has lost all its flavor.

Which is why manufacturers have to add artificial flavoring to make it taste fruity again.

This refers to all  the juices, you can find at the supermarket even the most expensive ones, as for the low quality ones ...

They're nothing but sugar water, artificial dyes, and fruit flavor.
===============================================
Number 9 - Energy Bars

Unless you're an athlete who requires a high protein intake and has to eat every three hours.

These bars won't be of any use to your health. Their ingredients aren't anything you can get from normal food.

Also protein bars and energy bars alike are usually processed products.

Yes, they are higher in protein than let's say chocolate bars, but they still contain plenty of unhealthy ingredients.

Sugar, artificial flavors, and sweeteners. Even white flour can all be found in a single energy bar.

If your scrupulous and love reading nutrition labels, you can find energy bar types that are way healthier than others.

But, in any case you're better off spending money on real food.
===============================================
Number 8 - Cereal

Our childhood and adulthood

let's be honest, favorite food and one that's been pushed on us our whole lives as part of a nutritionally balanced breakfast.

And the only way to start your day is nothing more than a marketing ploy.

In most cases thought, these cereals are loaded with refined carbohydrates and sugar.

Even if the label assures you that it's fat-free and whole-grain check the list of ingredients.

You'll most likely see that the product is full of sugar. Breakfast cereals typically contain a teeny tiny amount of whole grains.

Which allows producers mark their product is healthy, what's more...

Manufacturers add some synthetic vitamins to the mix. None of which do your body any good whatsoever.
===============================================
Number 7 -  Margarine

Again, thanks to mass advertising

Many people believe that margarine is a healthy alternative to butter. But yet again, that's so not true.

Margarine is a highly processed product that's made to taste and look like butter, but it's chock full of artificial ingredients.

What's even worse this "fake butter" is typically made from industrial vegetable oils hydrogenated to become solid.

A process that significantly increases the oils trans fat content.

Yet, manufacturers can technically label their product as zero trans-fat if it contains less than a half a gram of the stuff per serving.

But, half a gram is still a substantial amount and it can cause harm to your health.
==============================================
Number 6 -  Low-fat Yogurt

Nowadays, everybody knows that yogurt is a healthy nutritious product and that's mostly true.

The right yogurts can be extremely wholesome but, most store-bought varieties are useless and even dangerous for your health.

Especially those labeled "low-fat"

The thing is that manufacturers load these yogurts with sugar to make up for the lack of taste usually provided by the natural fats.

That means that the yogurt initially had healthy tasty fat.

But after its removal producers have to replace it with something much worse.

And despite common belief, most yogurts don't contain probiotic bacteria

Since, the process of pasteurization kills all those microorganisms.
===============================================
Number 5 - Ice Cream

Back in the day, ice cream was made with egg yolks cream sweeteners

Like organic maple syrup and pure vanilla extract as a natural flavoring and it was indeed one of the healthiest desserts you could find.

Unfortunately today's ice cream is an absolutely different product consisting of synthetic ingredients.

Instead of pure milk or cream, manufacturers use cheaper hydrogenated fats such as palm or coconut oil.

On their own, these oils are pretty healthy, but after they've been heated and infused with metal catalysts to solidify

Remember that they become nothing more than trans-fats and when consumed they can cause high cholesterol

stroke heart disease and even cancer!

Ice cream is also loaded with sugar artificial flavors and synthetic preservatives.

And if it's pink purple or red it's most likely been colored with cochineal extract or carmine.

Additives which can cause bad allergic reactions.
===============================================
Number 4 - Eggs

Eggs??

But aren't they one of the best foods out there full of proteins minerals and antioxidants.

How on earth can they be bad for you? Well to put it bluntly,

Easily, one egg contains as much cholesterol as a big greasy burger and although this is so-called

Dietary cholesterol that causes just a 10% increase in blood cholesterol levels it still damages your arterial lining.

Plus according to some recent studies eggs are no better than smoking when it comes to carotid artery plaque buildup and

Here's a real shocker. Even one egg a day can shorten your lifespan!

In a twenty year harvard physicians health study that observed 20,000 doctors.

They found that those who ate at least one egg every day had much higher mortality risks.

If you absolutely must include eggs in your diet choose those laid by range free heads
==============================================
Number 3 -Microwave Popcorn

It's delicious mouth-watering

flavorful and an absolute nightmare for your health.

Let's start with the bag, it's almost always lined with perfluorooctanoic acid.

And yes, it's as scary as it sounds this is the same toxic substance you can find in Teflon pans.

One of the worst things about this stuff is that it stays in the human body and the environment for an extremely long time.

Not to mention the EPA has listed it as a carcinogen.

aka cancer causer

Popcorn also has some genetically modified ingredients as well as taste boosting chemicals and additives.

This leads to health problems such as heart attacks, digestive issues, allergies

skin rashes,

breathing problems, and the depressing list goes on.

Even more popcorn is extremely caloric.

Salt, sugar, caramel and oil added to your favorite snack can result in problems with excess weight or even

obesity

If you want to stay healthy and enjoy the benefits of eating real popcorn as an additional source of some nutrients and fiber,

Stop buying microwavable bags from the store. Get a popcorn machine and make it at home yourself.
==============================================
Number 2 - Sugar-free Candy

These candies seem like the perfect option for those who have a sweet tooth, but want to cut down on their sugar intake.

But are sugar-free sweets really as great as they're presented to us?

The thing is that if candy doesn't contain sugar it contains artificial sweeteners such as aspartame sucralose and saccharine.

These substances are chemically processed and may cause some serious side effects.

For example, saccharin can increase your sodium levels and aspartame can lead to migraines.

And even if, candy is sugar-free, it's still candy. This means that it's still high in fat carbs and calories.

For instance, sugar free chocolates can be high in saturated fats thanks to the cocoa butter in them.
===============================================
Number 1 - Diet Soda

While diet soda can save you up to a hundred and forty calories compared to the "non-diet variety."

There are more important things than calorie content.

First of all diet soda contains artificial sweeteners whose flavour is more intense than that of real sugar.

So if you consume a lot of diet drinks,

they'll dull your taste perception over time.

And naturally sweet products like fruit won't seem sweet any longer.

Not to mention, artificial sweeteners can easily lead to weight gain as they trigger the production of insulin which makes your body store fat.

If you drink just one diet soda per day you have a 36% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

And lastly, after some time your smile can be seriously ruined as the citric acid contained in diet soda

weakens and destroys tooth enamel.

How to Protect Your Kidney Health: Avoid These 5 Foods

How to Protect Your Kidney Health: Avoid These 5 Foods

These 5 foods are full of ingredients, additives
and chemicals shown to cause the worst problems to your kidneys and overall health.

If you want to protect your kidney health,
keep these 5 supermarket staples out of your
shopping cart.

If you have chronic kidney disease, good nutrition and diet are critical components of the treatment plan.

But why is diet so important for protecting
your kidney health?

While the right dietary regimen is important
for everyone, those with diminished kidney
function have shown the worse reaction to
an unbalanced diet.

Patients suffering from chronic kidney disease
(CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD) cannot rely on their kidney to maintain the delicate balance their body needs.

The kidneys regulate the quantity of water,
electrolytes, minerals and waste products
in the metabolism.

Stepping out of this balance will not just
make you feel tired, out of energy and sick,
will also make your kidney disease progress
at an higher rate.

This is why the outcomes of bad dietary habits
have shown to be disastrous.

So here is the list: These foods are the worst
of the worst, starting from number 5:

An excess of salt in your diet will alter
the delicate sodium balance in your body.

The kidneys will have to work harder to restore
this balance, and the result will be fluid
retention and higher blood pressure.

While water retention will cause some cosmetic
issues, like cellulite, high blood pressure
is one of the main risk factors for kidney
disease.

In my experience, most people just eat too
much sodium, so almost anyone can see an immediate health improvement reducing salt intake.

Table salt is the worse, since it is heavily
processed and contains chemicals.

Himalayan salt is a good substitute, see comment section for some trusted sellers.

There are several studies confirming that
an excess of red meat can be a danger for
kidney health.

Protein metabolism requires a lot of work
from the kidneys.

This is why high protein consumption has been
linked to an higher risk of kidney disease
and kidney stones.

Still, meat is a source of high quality proteins
and should be a component of an healthy diet.

My advice is to reduce the intake of meat,
especially red meat, to maximum two portions
a week.

Processed meat should be completely avoided.

There's a number of fruit and vegetables kidney patients should be avoiding
bananas, prunes, raisins, collards, potatoes,
cantaloupe and tomatoes are too rich in potassium and can be dangerous.

Healthy kidneys are perfectly able to process
the excess of potassium you can get from fruit
and vegetables.

But an excess of potassium in the blood of
a kidney patient can cause symptoms as severe
as an heart attack.

Still, vegetables are really good for your
health, and should always be an important
part of your diet.

For every 150 calories of dietary sugar you
consume a day, you risk of diabetes, one of
the main risk factors for kidney disease,
increases by 1.1 percent - according to a
research published in the journal PLOS ONE.

If this is not enough, dietary sugar has been
linked to esophageal cancer, colon cancer,
breast cancer and lung metastasis.

And while the sugar industry has done a number of cover-ups to shift the blame to fats, paying scientists and falsifying studies, it is pretty obvious nowadays that excess of sugar is unhealthy as it gets.

So, how can you reduce sugar in your diet?

Sugar is hidden in almost every processed
food under a variety of names: dextrose, fructose, lactose, corn syrup, maltose, molasses, sucrose and so on.

Best way to protect your kidneys and your
health is to totally avoid processed foods
and sugary beverages.

Your kidneys and your waistline will thank
you!

The influence of drinking sodas and other
soft drinks on human health has been widely
researched over the last decades.

You might expect some damages to your health
if you regularly consume unhealthy beverages.

Still, the results of most studies were way
worse than the expectations.

But why are sodas so bad for your kidney health?

Sodas have a very high concentration of caffeine, sugar, artificial sweeteners, phosphoric acid and other chemicals.

In a study conducted on more than 3000 women during 10 years, a rate of decline of more than 30% in GFR was observed in test subject who drank 2 or more serving a day of artificially sweetened sodas.

In my experience, this kind of very direct
and sharp correlation is not very common in
trials done on thousands of subjects.

And the numbers here are pretty scary: only
two cans a day and you will end up losing
It's not a chance, it's certain.
Very scary, if you think about it.

This is why I'm putting sodas on the top of
my list of things to avoid.

An advice from kidney doctors:
Diet sodas are even worse than regular sodas
for your Kidney Health!

Drink water or green tea instead
This is all for today!

Can Cold Showers Really Improve Your Health?

Can Cold Showers Really Improve Your Health?

If you follow any productivity gurus, then you’ve probably heard how you need to take cold showers in the morning.

After all, not only can they wake you right up, but you’re also promised a myriad of health benefits and everybody loves a good healthy life hack.

But whether these claims are actually true is still kind of a gray area.

Also, I have to say, as someone who grew up in Florida
and now lives in Montana, a cold shower is different depending on where you live.

So before you jump in that agonizingly cold shower,
let’s look at some research.

One of the biggest problems with studying cold showers is that… well, people really haven’t.

Instead, most health claims are implied from studies of cryotherapy using cold water or air to treat a condition or from things like people who repeatedly go swimming in cold water.

But cryotherapy is really carefully controlled, and those swimmers often stay in the water for over an hour,
so it’s hard to apply this to your quick rinse before work.

Still, that doesn’t mean there’s zero evidence for cold showers,
because there is.

It’s just not very strong.

Like, take the claim people make that those showers improve your immune system.

In 2016, a study published in PLOS One wanted to see if taking a quick cold shower in the morning would reduce the amount of sick days someone took from work.

For 30 straight days, more than 2300 subjects took either a warm shower, or a warm shower that turned cold for 30,

On average, subjects in all three of the cold shower groups called into work roughly the same as one less sick day per
month.

But we don’t know why, since the research team didn’t measure any biological markers.

Many of the participants did say they felt an increase in energy

and continued taking the cold showers after the experiment,

but that’s not enough to close the case.

It’s possible that their white blood cell count increased
like what’s been shown to happen with cold water swimmers.

But again, a 90-second rinse is a lot different from an hour in the water.

Many people also swear that cold showers can boost mood.

But the results there are maybe even weaker.

A 2008 study in Medical Hypothesis gets referenced
a lot as evidence for cold showers as an antidepressant,
but it’s not really all that convincing.

They hypothesized that cold water would activate your sympathetic nervous system the system that does things like increase your heart rate and stimulate the release of endorphins which would elevate your mood.

But it only had three data points, one of which was the author of the paper, and none of them had symptoms that would diagnose them with depression.

Plus, the biological markers they expected to change
were never actually measured, so really we don’t have any results to go off of.

To be fair, the author did mention all that in the paper.

But alas, the blogosphere still holds onto that antidepressant claim even though the article wasn’t that powerful.

The thing here is, you can’t placebo a cold shower:

you know if you’re getting one.

So it seems like cold showers get a lot more credit than they deserve based on the evidence that exists.

A short one probably won’t hurt you, but hey, let’s do more research before we start making claims about reality
and our bodies.

Seriously, if you’re looking for a research project, this sounds like a good one to try out.

Couldn’t be that expensive, it’s cold water.

So, even though cold showers might not be the key
to making you more productive...
